Maseru Day High School recently welcomed back its former students, who returned to their alma mater to celebrate a remarkable academic milestone. The visit was inspired by the recent success of current student Koleile Notsi, who emerged as one of the top local contenders selected to participate in the prestigious Mathematics Olympiad, set to take place at Botswana University from June 12 to 18.
The event saw dozens of alumni gather at the school’s assembly hall, where they were warmly received by the school’s leadership, staff, and students. The gathering served as both a celebration of Notsi’s outstanding achievement and an opportunity to inspire current learners to strive for academic excellence.
Speaking during the event, the alumni representative, Mr. Teboho Matsoso, praised Notsi’s hard work and dedication. “Koleile’s success shows that with determination and support, students from Maseru Day High School can compete on any stage,” he said. “We are proud to stand here today and celebrate this moment with you.”
The returning alumni shared their personal stories, offering words of encouragement and mentorship to the students. They emphasized the importance of resilience, curiosity, and embracing opportunities such as the Mathematics Olympiad.
Koleile Notsi, who was visibly humbled by the recognition, said, “I am grateful for the support from my teachers, family, and now the alumni. I hope to make Maseru Day High School proud at the competition in Botswana.”
Principal Mrs. ‘Maseboko Mohapi expressed her gratitude to the alumni for their continued support and involvement in the school’s progress. “Moments like this strengthen our community and inspire our students to reach greater heights. We are building a legacy of excellence that future generations can look up to,” she said.
With the Mathematics Olympiad just days away, excitement is building within the school community. Students, teachers, and alumni alike are hopeful that Notsi’s participation will not only bring accolades but also encourage a culture of academic pursuit at Maseru Day High School.
As preparations continue, the school’s leadership has pledged to further strengthen ties with its alumni and explore more ways to celebrate and promote academic achievements in the years to come.
