Lesotho’s King and Queen Lead Strategic Briefing Ahead of Expo 2025 Osaka Engagements

This morning, Their Majesties King Letsie III and Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso convened a high-level strategic briefing with senior government officials and industry leaders from Lesotho, setting the tone for an important day at Expo 2025 Osaka in Japan.

The session, held in Osaka, brought together a powerful delegation aimed at positioning Lesotho on the global stage. The focus was on aligning the country’s strategic objectives with the opportunities presented at the Expo, where Lesotho will showcase its investment potential, tourism offerings, and trade prospects.

Key ministers in attendance included Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Lejone Mpotjoane, Minister of Trade and Industry Mokhethi Shelile, and Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition Motlatsi Maqelepo. Their presence underscored the government’s commitment to presenting a unified front in advancing Lesotho’s development agenda.

Joining the delegation were critical figures from Lesotho’s economic and trade sectors. Advocate Molise Ramaili, Acting CEO of the Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC), and Mrs ‘Mathabo Mokoko, Commissioner General of the Revenue Service Lesotho (RSL), provided insights on trade, investment incentives, and fiscal readiness to support international partnerships.

Also present was Mr Retšelisitsoe Theko, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho to Japan, who played a pivotal role in coordinating Lesotho’s participation at the Expo. The Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mr Thabang Lekhela, and Acting Senior Private Secretary to His Majesty’s Office, Mr Nyolosi Mphale, further strengthened the official delegation.

Senior officials from various ministries attended the session to lend their expertise on key sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, investment promotion, and tourism. Their Majesties led discussions centered on showcasing Lesotho’s strengths and outlining plans for bilateral engagements with international investors and trade partners attending Expo 2025.

The strategic briefing highlighted the importance of coordinated messaging and a strong national identity at global platforms like Expo 2025 Osaka. As Lesotho continues to position itself as a destination for investment and tourism, the leadership shown by King Letsie III and Queen ‘Masenate underscores the country’s proactive approach to international economic diplomacy.
