LeFA Launches 2025 U15 Inter District Tournament to Scout Future Stars for School of Excellence

The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) has officially launched the 2025 edition of its Under-15 (U15) Inter District Tournament, setting the stage for the search for the next generation of football talent to be inducted into the prestigious LeFA School of Excellence Programme.

According to LeFA Media and Communication Manager, Mr. Mikia Kalati, the tournament kicked off in the northern region over the past weekend. Young players from Botha-Bothe, Leribe, and Berea were assembled to showcase their skills and compete for a spot in the next intake of the elite development programme. Unfortunately, Mokhotlong district was unable to participate due to severe snowfall that made travel to the event difficult and unsafe. However, Mr. Kalati confirmed that Mokhotlong will still be given a chance to take part later as the tournament progresses.

The initiative is part of LeFA’s ongoing commitment to grassroots football development and talent identification across the country. After its start in Leribe, the tournament has now moved to the southern region, with matches taking place at the LeFA Technical Centre in Mohale’s Hoek. District teams from Qacha’s Nek, Quthing, and Mafeteng are currently participating in this leg of the tournament, which continues to attract attention for its role in shaping the future of Lesotho’s national football prospects.

The U15 Inter District Tournament remains a crucial scouting platform for LeFA, feeding into the School of Excellence Programme that has, over the years, nurtured several national team players. With talent emerging from every corner of the country, the association hopes this 2025 edition will uncover young stars capable of taking Lesotho football to the next level.
