China Commits to Implementing Global Governance Initiative in Lesotho

Chinese Ambassador to Lesotho, Mr. Yang Xiaokun, said the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) is not only about ideas but also about actions, guiding the way forward. He made the remarks during a media briefing on Wednesday themed: “Global Governance Initiative and One Year Achievements of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).”

Mr. Yang emphasized that China is committed to safeguarding the international system with the United Nations at its core and maintaining the international order underpinned by international law. He said China will stand on the right side of history, join hands with progressive forces worldwide, and work relentlessly for peace and development.

He noted that the world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, and what is needed is cooperation instead of confrontation, inclusion instead of exclusion, and bridges instead of walls. He described the GGI as China’s proposal for building bridges based on fairness, inclusiveness, effectiveness, and shared progress, with no exceptions for Africa and Lesotho.

Mr. Yang said China will uphold principles, embrace new ideas, remain open-minded and inclusive, and follow the principle of extensive consultation and joint contribution for shared benefit. He highlighted the importance of working under the GGI framework with all parties to enhance policy communication, coordination, and consensus-building, while enriching methods for reforming and improving global governance.

He concluded by urging all partners to uphold the vision of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits. He called for collaboration with the United Nations and all countries to implement the GGI, move the international order toward fairness and justice, and advance the noble cause of building a community with a shared future for humanity.
