South Africa holds the historical advantage in COSAFA Cup clashes between the sides, with three wins, one loss, and two draws.
Later that evening, Mauritius will take on Zimbabwe, who return to the competition with a formidable record. Zimbabwe has never lost to any of their Group A opponents in COSAFA Cup history—beating Mozambique three times, Mauritius twice, and holding an unbeaten record against South Africa with two wins and one draw.
Group A continues on June 7 with Mozambique vs Mauritius and the heavyweight clash between South Africa and Zimbabwe, both matches again set for the Toyota Stadium. The group stage will conclude on June 10, with Mozambique facing Zimbabwe at Toyota Stadium and South Africa closing out their group campaign against Mauritius at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium.
Group B kicks off on June 5, with Malawi facing Lesotho in the afternoon and Angola taking on Namibia in the evening at Toyota Stadium. Angola, the reigning champions, thrashed Namibia 5–0 in last year’s final and will be looking to repeat that dominant performance.
Group B action resumes on June 8 at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium, where Angola meets Lesotho and Namibia clashes with Malawi. The final round of group fixtures takes place on June 10, with Namibia vs Lesotho at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium, while Malawi and Angola square off at Toyota Stadium.
