Minister of Education Professor Ntoi Hands Over New Classrooms to Phororong Primary School in Berea

On Tuesday, the Minister of Education and Training, Professor Ntoi, officially handed over a newly constructed classroom block to Phororong Primary School in the Berea district. The development marks a significant milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to improve learning environments and expand access to quality education in Lesotho’s rural communities.

The new classrooms were built as part of a broader infrastructure initiative aimed at addressing overcrowding and creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning across the country. During the handover ceremony, Professor Ntoi emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that all learners, regardless of their geographic location, have access to safe and functional school facilities.

“This handover is more than just the delivery of infrastructure,” said Professor Ntoi. “It is a symbol of our promise to invest in the future of our children by providing them with the resources and support they need to succeed in school and beyond.”

The newly constructed classrooms are expected to benefit hundreds of learners at Phororong Primary School, many of whom have previously studied in overcrowded or makeshift learning spaces. Teachers and parents alike have welcomed the development, expressing hope that it will lead to improved academic performance and increased school attendance.

Local education officials, community leaders, and school staff attended the event, commending the Ministry for prioritizing rural schools that often face significant infrastructural challenges. They also highlighted the importance of maintaining the new facilities and fostering a collaborative relationship between the school and the surrounding community.

Phororong Primary School’s principal expressed gratitude for the much-needed upgrade, noting that the new classrooms would greatly enhance the learning experience and motivate both students and teachers.

As the Ministry of Education and Training continues to roll out similar projects in other districts, the successful handover at Phororong Primary serves as a model for the transformative impact that targeted investments in school infrastructure can have on Lesotho’s education system.
