Lesotho Joins Regional Sports Movement as BOSMA Games Kick Off in Orapa

Lesotho is proudly represented at the fifth edition of the Botswana Softball Masters Association (BOSMA) games, which officially began today in the bustling town of Orapa, Botswana. The tournament, running through to Saturday, brings together 16 veteran softball teams from across Southern Africa—including one standout team from Lesotho—making it a celebration of regional unity, athleticism, and community impact.
As the sole representative from Lesotho, the veteran team has joined nine teams from Botswana and six from South Africa to compete in one of the region’s most respected masters tournaments. Their participation reflects Lesotho’s growing involvement in regional sports platforms and highlights the country’s commitment to fostering athletic excellence and international camaraderie among older athletes.
While the competition on the field promises excitement and sportsmanship, the BOSMA games are also deeply rooted in social responsibility. Each year, the tournament goes beyond sport by actively contributing to community development through its Social Corporate Responsibility (SCR) initiatives. This year, Khwee Primary School in Botswana was selected to receive winter clothing and essential kitchen utensils—support aimed at improving the well-being and education experience of local schoolchildren.
BOSMA Chairperson Tsuna Makwa emphasized the association’s mission to create a lasting community impact. “As per our annual Social Corporate Responsibility objectives, proceeds from each tournament are channeled towards less privileged members of the community,” she said. Her message resonates with the values shared across all participating nations, including Lesotho, where sports and community upliftment are increasingly intertwined.
Lesotho’s presence at BOSMA not only enriches the tournament but also reinforces its role in strengthening cross-border relations through sport. By participating in such events, Lesotho continues to build regional partnerships, promote healthy lifestyles among veteran athletes, and showcase the country’s talent and resilience on an international stage.
As the games progress, Lesotho’s team will not only aim for victory on the field but will also carry forward the spirit of unity and shared purpose that defines the BOSMA games. With every play and every contribution, Lesotho is proudly making its mark—both in sport and in community development across the region.
