Concerned Parents Campaign Appeals for Support to Strengthen Fight Against Drug and Substance Abuse

The Concerned Parents Campaign (CPC) is intensifying its efforts to combat the rising threat of drug and substance abuse among the youth in Lesotho. On Wednesday, the CPC held a crucial meeting with the District Administrator’s office, representatives from various government ministries, and members of the business community to appeal for financial support toward its mission.
Speaking at the gathering, CPC Coordinator Mr. Teele Nts’onyane expressed concern over the growing challenge of substance abuse, especially among young people whose futures are at risk. He noted that while the organization has been operating on a zero budget, it remains committed to its mission of safeguarding the youth from the devastating effects of drug use. Despite limited resources, CPC continues to engage communities and raise awareness on the dangers of drug abuse.
Mr. Nts’onyane highlighted the importance of upcoming community events aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and reinforcing CPC’s message. These include a fun walk, soccer games at the DIFA grounds, and a town-wide cleaning campaign, all scheduled to take place in Mohale’s Hoek on the 30th and 31st of May. These initiatives are part of the broader “Say No To Drugs” campaign and are designed to draw in young people through positive engagement and community involvement.
To ensure the success of these activities, CPC is calling on the business community and relevant stakeholders to offer financial support. Mr. Nts’onyane emphasized that even small contributions can make a significant difference in creating safer environments and inspiring change among the youth.
He also extended heartfelt thanks to the businesses and individuals who have already pledged their support to CPC’s cause. Their willingness to partner with CPC serves as a powerful example of how collective action can drive meaningful change in society.
As the date for the campaign activities approaches, the Concerned Parents Campaign remains hopeful that more partners will come on board. Through continued collaboration, CPC aims to build stronger, drug-free communities where young people can thrive and pursue their dreams without the burden of addiction.
