China Reaffirms Commitment to African Unity and Shared Modernization on Africa Day

China has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to deepening unity and solidarity with African nations in a bid to advance shared modernization. This assurance was made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during the celebration of Africa Day held in Beijing on Monday.

The high-level event brought together more than 50 African ambassadors and chargés d’affaires to China, as well as the permanent representative of the African Union to China. The celebration marked a significant moment in China-Africa relations, reflecting on decades of cooperation and setting the tone for even closer ties in the future.

In his keynote address, Foreign Minister Wang Yi hailed the current era as the strongest period in the history of China-Africa relations. He emphasized that China has elevated its diplomatic relationships with all African countries with which it has official ties to the level of strategic partnerships.

“China and Africa are not only friends but strategic partners with a shared future,” Wang stated. “We stand with Africa in its pursuit of peace, development, and modernization, and we are committed to supporting our African brothers and sisters on this journey.”

Wang Yi highlighted that China views Africa as a crucial partner in building a multipolar world and promoting balanced global development. He stressed that China’s Belt and Road Initiative, the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), and other multilateral platforms will continue to be instrumental in promoting infrastructure development, technology transfer, trade, and investment across the African continent.

The celebration of Africa Day also served as a platform for African diplomats to express appreciation for China’s consistent support in areas such as health, education, industrial development, and capacity-building. They noted the importance of expanding cooperation beyond traditional sectors to include green energy, digital innovation, and people-to-people exchanges.

China’s commitment comes at a time when many African countries are accelerating efforts toward sustainable development and regional integration. Wang Yi affirmed that China supports these ambitions and will work hand-in-hand with African governments to ensure that modernization is inclusive, people-centered, and rooted in each country’s unique context.

As global dynamics continue to shift, the reaffirmation of China’s partnership with Africa sends a strong signal of enduring cooperation built on mutual respect, trust, and shared aspirations. Africa Day in Beijing not only celebrated a rich history of friendship but also charted a bold path toward a more connected and prosperous future for both China and the African continent.
