Prime Minister Matekane Extends Easter Greetings, Urges Basotho to Embrace Unity and Responsibility

Prime Minister Ntsokoane Matekane has extended heartfelt Easter greetings to the Basotho nation, calling on citizens to celebrate the sacred season with love, unity, and a strong sense of responsibility.
In his Easter message, the Prime Minister highlighted the spiritual significance of the holiday, describing it as a time of deep reflection that honours both the death and, more importantly, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. “It is in His resurrection that Christians find their greatest victory,” he stated, underlining the message of hope that Easter brings.
Mr. Matekane reminded the nation that Christianity is founded on principles of love, respect, and peaceful coexistence—values that also echo the vision of the founder of the Basotho nation, who upheld harmony as a cornerstone of national identity.
While encouraging spiritual renewal and unity, the Prime Minister also addressed concerns about public safety over the Easter holidays. He issued a strong warning against criminal behaviour, emphasizing that law enforcement agencies will be on high alert to maintain order. He condemned gender-based violence and other crimes, calling on perpetrators to stop their harmful actions immediately.
The Prime Minister’s message served as both a celebration of the Easter spirit and a call to action for all Basotho to uphold peace, responsibility, and mutual respect during the holiday season and beyond.
