Mohlaetoa and Maribane Communities Unite to Improve Farm Access Roads

In a bid to enhance access to farms that have long been difficult to reach, the Mohlaetoa and Maribane communities have come together to rehabilitate in-roads leading to the Khoabaleabua agricultural fields.

Mohlaetoa councillor, Mrs. Masello Maqalepo, shared this development with the Agency on Wednesday, highlighting the significance of the initiative. She noted that farmers have faced ongoing challenges due to poor road conditions, making it difficult for trailers and other farm equipment to reach their fields.

“It is a challenge for the community to reach farms from Khoabaleabua as well as Maribane. The majority of farmers struggle because of potholes and rocks that hinder smooth movement,” Mrs. Maqalepo explained.

She further emphasized that the road rehabilitation effort is being carried out through community collaboration, with locals volunteering their time and resources to clear debris and fill potholes. The initiative aims to boost agricultural productivity by ensuring farmers can transport their produce more efficiently and access necessary supplies without difficulty.

Community members expressed their enthusiasm for the project, stating that improved roads would not only benefit farmers but also support the local economy by facilitating better trade and transport.

As the rehabilitation work progresses, residents hope that this effort will set a precedent for further infrastructure improvements, ultimately fostering agricultural growth and development in the region.
