Mabote Police and Community Leaders Join Forces to Curb Crime Over Easter Holidays

As Easter holidays approach, Mabote Police, in collaboration with local community leaders, has launched a series of initiatives aimed at reducing crime in the region. The goal is not only to ensure public safety during the holidays but also to create a lasting impact on crime prevention in the area.

Superintendent Mokete Matseletsele, Officer Commanding Mabote Police Station, spoke to the Agency about the department’s plans. One of the key initiatives is the organization of youth soccer tournaments, which will take place at Khubetsoana, Mats’eng, and Ha Foso in a bid to engage the youth in positive activities. The tournaments aim to motivate young people while also educating them about the detrimental effects of crime.

In addition to the sports activities, Mabote Police will set up temporary police satellites in Motimposo, a known hotspot for criminal activities. This move is part of a broader effort to increase police presence in areas where crime is more prevalent, ensuring the safety of the public during the busy holiday season.

Superintendent Matseletsele also emphasized the ongoing crackdown on illegal alcohol sales, particularly targeting liquor store owners who sell alcohol to minors or operate without proper licenses. The police are taking legal action against offenders, ensuring they are brought before the courts of law.

The Mabote Police, alongside community leaders, are committed to maintaining peace and safety over the Easter holidays, while also laying the groundwork for a more secure future for the community.
