Lesotho Defence Force Amendment Bill Not Meant to Favour Any Officer, Says Minister Limpho Tau

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Limpho Tau, has clarified that the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) Amendment Bill 2025 is not designed to favour any specific officer within the LDF, as has been speculated. The Minister made these remarks during a press conference held at the government complex in Maseru on Tuesday.
Addressing concerns raised by some stakeholders, Mr. Tau emphasized that the primary objective of the bill is to enhance the security services within the country. He explained that the proposed amendments are focused on strengthening the skills and capabilities of the LDF while ensuring stability in human resources within the institution.
The Minister reiterated that the bill seeks to promote the development of the LDF as a professional and well-equipped institution. He further highlighted that maintaining a skilled and stable workforce within the defence force is crucial for national security and the effective execution of its mandate.
Mr. Tau called for constructive engagement and support for the bill, urging stakeholders to consider its long-term benefits for Lesotho’s security framework. He assured the public that the government remains committed to transparency and professionalism in managing security matters within the country.
