Lekokoaneng Farmer Ventures into Agro-Processing with Homemade Extra Hot Chilli Sauce

In a bid to promote a healthy lifestyle, renowned Lekokoaneng farmer Ms. Matoka Motjetje has expanded her agricultural endeavors into agro-processing by producing homemade extra hot chilli sauce.

Speaking in an interview on Friday, Ms. Motjetje, the founder of Palimes Agro, shared that her inspiration for making canned chilli sauce came from her involvement with the Makoatlane Nutrition Club. Through the club, she learned the importance of preserving vegetables and fruits for future use, a skill that motivated her to create her own unique chilli sauce.

What sets her product apart, she emphasized, is the absence of artificial preservatives, making it a healthier alternative to many commercial chilli sauces. Ms. Motjetje believes that through agro-processing, farmers can add value to their produce while also encouraging consumers to embrace healthier, natural food options.

Her venture into agro-processing not only contributes to local food production but also serves as an example of how small-scale farmers can innovate and expand their businesses beyond traditional farming.
