Learners in Mokhotlong Schools Urged to Embrace Hospitality to Boost Lesotho’s Tourism

Learners at Mphere Primary and Sekonyela Secondary schools in Mokhotlong have been encouraged to maintain good conduct and show hospitality towards tourists in an effort to enhance Lesotho’s reputation as a top tourism destination.
This message was delivered by the Acting Public Relations Manager of the Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC), Mr. Molapo Matela, during an interview following educational sessions held at the two schools on Tuesday. The sessions focused on tourism-related topics and were part of LTDC’s ongoing awareness campaigns.
Mr. Matela emphasized the importance of involving young people in promoting a welcoming environment for visitors. He said that by cultivating respect and friendliness towards tourists, learners can contribute meaningfully to the growth of the tourism sector in their communities and the country at large.
“The future of tourism in Lesotho relies not only on infrastructure but also on the attitudes of our people, especially the younger generation. Instilling hospitality at an early age can make a lasting impact,” he noted.
The LTDC has been conducting similar awareness programs in various parts of the country with the aim of educating communities on the importance of safeguarding and respecting tourists, thereby fostering a more tourist-friendly atmosphere in Lesotho.
