IWPG Commemorates April 26 as International Women’s Peace Day

The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) has officially proclaimed and will commemorate April 26 as International Women’s Peace Day, a significant date dedicated to promoting the cessation of war and the realization of global peace. The initiative was announced with a focus on uniting women across the world who share a motherly heart and a desire to protect the lives of future generations.
Speaking on behalf of the IWPG Lesotho Committee, Chairperson Mrs. ‘Malejaka Letooane explained that the commemoration serves as a call to action for women everywhere to join hands in the pursuit of peace. “This day is about encouraging women peace activists, regardless of borders, race, religion, or ideology, who are already working for peace and to inspire hope that many more women will join the movement,” she said.
Mrs. Letooane emphasized that women have a unique role in fostering peace due to their nurturing spirit and deep concern for the well-being of children. By uniting under this shared purpose, IWPG believes that women can be powerful agents of change in the global mission to end wars and establish lasting peace.
International Women’s Peace Day stands as a symbol of solidarity, hope, and determination—aiming to amplify the voices of women in peacebuilding efforts worldwide. Through events, education, and cross-border collaboration, IWPG hopes to build a strong, united network of women who are committed to creating a more peaceful and secure future for all.
