National Music Awards Set for a Grand Return in Maseru This September

The National Music Awards are making a highly anticipated comeback this year, with the second edition scheduled for September 27th at the prestigious Manthabiseng Convention Centre in Maseru. The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of Lesotho’s rich musical talent and cultural heritage.
Organized by Melodious Awards in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, the National Music Awards aim to honour, recognize, and motivate the country’s musicians, songwriters, and producers. This initiative is designed not only to showcase local artistry but also to provide a platform that elevates and nurtures Basotho creativity.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Sunday, Mr. Rorisang Motsamai, Director of Melodious Awards, shared insights on the vision behind the awards. “Our goal is to support and promote local talent by creating opportunities where artists can be celebrated and gain exposure,” said Mr. Motsamai.
This year’s awards have been streamlined from 28 categories to 22, a strategic move intended to avoid duplication and place a sharper focus on the most impactful aspects of music production and performance. “We want to ensure the awards truly reflect excellence and dedication in the industry,” Mr. Motsamai explained.
He also highlighted the vast creative potential within the Basotho music scene. “With the right support, our artists can not only enhance Lesotho’s cultural identity but also contribute significantly to economic growth,” he added.
The upcoming event is expected to draw a diverse audience, including industry stakeholders, government representatives, music lovers, and media. It promises to be a night of inspiration and recognition, spotlighting the talents that are shaping the future of Lesotho’s music industry.
As the countdown to September 27th begins, excitement builds around what is set to become a landmark occasion for Basotho music, celebrating those who keep the nation’s artistic heartbeat alive and thriving.
