ECCD Teachers Urged to Register Schools for Recognition and Sustainability

Early Childhood Care & Development (ECCD) teachers have been advised to begin registering their schools for official recognition to ensure they receive necessary support from development partners. The call was made during a meeting held with Mashai ECCD teachers, where they were briefed on key issues, including school registration and the importance of climate-smart plots.

Speaking at the meeting, Ministry of Education Representative, Mr. Molefi Ramochela, emphasized that development partners have raised concerns about assisting unregistered schools. He warned that failure to register could lead to exclusion from any form of assistance, urging teachers to speed up the process to secure necessary support for their schools.

Beyond registration, Mr. Ramochela highlighted the importance of self-reliance within schools. He encouraged ECCD institutions to establish climate-smart plots as a sustainable measure to provide food for learners, especially during times when government distributions are delayed. According to him, having a variety of vegetables in school yards would ensure that learners receive proper nutrition and maintain a healthy learning environment.

The initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening early childhood education by ensuring schools are both recognized and self-sufficient. With registration and sustainable agricultural practices, ECCD centers can enhance their resilience and improve the quality of education and care provided to young learners.
