PS Ramashamole Commends Vodacom Lesotho for Promoting Innovation

The Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Mr. Kanono Ramashamole, has applauded Vodacom Lesotho for its dedication to fostering innovation in the country.

Mr. Ramashamole made these remarks on Wednesday while officially launching a three-day Vodacom Lesotho hackathon, dubbed Hack Fest, in Maseru. The event aims to bring together tech enthusiasts, developers, and entrepreneurs to collaborate on innovative solutions within a limited timeframe.

A hackathon, also known as a hack day, hackfest, datathon, or codefest, is an event where participants engage in intensive and collaborative engineering projects, typically over 24 to 48 hours. These events provide a platform for creative problem-solving and technological advancement, fostering new ideas that can potentially drive digital transformation.

The Vodacom Lesotho Hack Fest is expected to ignite creativity among young innovators, offering them an opportunity to showcase their skills and develop solutions that could contribute to Lesotho’s technological growth. By supporting such initiatives, Vodacom Lesotho continues to play a vital role in the country’s digital ecosystem.

Mr. Ramashamole emphasized the importance of private-sector partnerships in driving innovation and economic development. He expressed confidence that the hackathon would inspire participants to push technological boundaries and create solutions that address local challenges.

The event marks another step towards strengthening Lesotho’s position in the digital space, encouraging the development of homegrown tech solutions, and fostering a culture of innovation among the nation’s youth.
