Mokhotlong District Disaster Preparedness Plan Reviewed and Updated

Members of the District Disaster Management Team (DDMT) have reviewed and updated the District Disaster Preparedness Plan (DDPP) during a two-day meeting held in Mokhotlong between Wednesday and Thursday this week.
According to District Disaster Management Officer, Mr. Sekake Thamae, the review aimed to update the preparedness plan, which was first drafted in 2022, to ensure it remains effective in addressing emerging disaster risks and challenges.
The meeting was organized by the Disaster Management Authority (DMA) and received financial support from World Vision Lesotho through the European Union Humanitarian Aid project. The updated plan is expected to enhance disaster response strategies and improve coordination among stakeholders in Mokhotlong.
With Lesotho frequently experiencing natural disasters such as droughts, heavy rains, and strong winds, the review of the DDPP is seen as a crucial step in strengthening the district’s capacity to respond to emergencies and protect vulnerable communities.
