Minister Acknowledges Widespread Road Deterioration, Promises Assessment

The Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Matjato Moteane, has acknowledged the widespread destruction and deterioration of roads across the country. He made these remarks while responding to Question 676 regarding the rehabilitation of several key roads.
The roads in question include the route from Peka through Ha Leboea, Ha Mohlokaqala, Ha Matala, and Ha-Tlalinyane, as well as the road from Makhalong through Kolonyama, Lalasa, and onto the Main North One Road. Other roads requiring attention are Kolonyama Setopong through Manyaneng, Ha Ntsekele, Fobane, and Ha Makhata; Likotopong through Ha Ralehlatsa and onto Tabola; and Ha Kotola through Pobeng and Ha Seetsa.
Minister Moteane assured that a detailed assessment would be conducted to determine the extent of damage and to establish the best approach for prioritizing rehabilitation efforts. The government aims to address infrastructure challenges that have affected transportation and economic activities in affected areas.
The condition of roads has been a growing concern for residents, businesses, and motorists, as poor infrastructure hampers mobility and economic productivity. The planned assessment is expected to pave the way for structured repairs and improvements.
