LHDA Assesses Progress of Lesotho Highlands Water Project

March 20, 2025 – The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) recently held a meeting to evaluate the progress of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP). The primary objective of the meeting was to provide updates on the project’s implementation and engage relevant stakeholders involved in the initiative.
The gathering aimed to ensure transparency in service delivery and discuss strategies for the successful execution of the project. It served as a platform to assess the project’s impact, address challenges, and enhance collaboration among key players.
The LHWP is a joint venture between Lesotho and South Africa, designed to supply water to South Africa while also generating hydroelectric power for Lesotho. This ambitious project involves significant infrastructure developments, including the construction of dams, tunnels, and roads within the Lesotho Highlands. These advancements are expected to drive economic growth and provide essential resources for both nations.
LHDA reaffirmed its commitment to maximizing the benefits of the project for Lesotho by fostering sustainable development and promoting economic growth. The authority continues to emphasize the importance of ensuring that the project contributes to the long-term prosperity of the country.
As the project progresses, LHDA remains focused on meeting its objectives and addressing the needs of the communities affected by the development. Further updates on its implementation will be provided as work continues.
