Lesotho Celebrates Africa Day of School Feeding with National Event

Lesotho marked the National Africa Day of School Feeding (ADSF) with a vibrant celebration, beginning with a spirited procession covering less than five kilometers from Maqokho junction to Bolula Primary School in Ha-Mohlakoana, Mount Moorosi constituency. The event, held on Thursday, brought together various public groups in a shared commitment to improving child nutrition and school health.

Under the theme “A Decade of Nourishment: Celebrating the Past, Securing a Just Future,” the occasion also served as the official launch of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) School Health and Nutrition Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) pilot project in Lesotho. This initiative aims to enhance school feeding programs and overall student well-being.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Education and Training (MOET), Deputy Principal Secretary Ms. Refiloe Kepa emphasized the significance of the TAF project. She noted that it will provide technical expertise, innovative tools, and solutions to help Lesotho achieve the goals outlined in the 2024 National School Feeding Policy.

The school feeding program remains a crucial component of Lesotho’s efforts to ensure children receive adequate nutrition, supporting both their health and academic performance. The event underscored the country’s commitment to strengthening sustainable school feeding initiatives and securing a healthier future for students across the nation.
