Improving the Livelihoods of Children in Lesotho: Perivori School Trust Partners with Lesotho ECCD Teachers

The Perivori School Trust recently launched a significant partnership with Lesotho Early Childhood Care Development (ECCD) teachers, aiming to enhance the livelihoods of children in the country. The event, held at SOS Children’s Villages Maseru on Thursday, marked a pivotal step toward improving early childhood education in Lesotho.
In a speech delivered on behalf of the Minister of Education, Deputy Principal Secretary (DPS) Mrs. Refiloe Kepa emphasized the importance of the partnership, describing it as a cornerstone for the future of children in Lesotho. She acknowledged the country’s commitment to supporting early childhood education, highlighting two major policies and frameworks in place to guide this commitment.
The first, the Lesotho Integrated ECCD Policy of 2013, focuses on providing inclusive and quality education to all children, especially the most vulnerable. This policy underscores Lesotho’s dedication to ensuring every child has access to early education that fosters growth and development from an early age.
Additionally, the National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP) and the Children Protection Welfare Act of 2011 were referenced as vital tools in safeguarding children’s rights, ensuring they have fair access to education and a secure environment for their development.
This partnership between Perivori School Trust and Lesotho’s ECCD teachers reflects a shared vision for improving the educational outcomes and overall well-being of children in the country. By empowering educators and providing support to early childhood programs, this collaboration is set to create a lasting impact on the lives of the nation’s youngest and most vulnerable citizens.
