Ha-Raleqheka Residents Feel Betrayed Over Unfulfilled Police Station Promise

Residents of Ha-Raleqheka are expressing frustration and disappointment as a long-promised police station remains unbuilt, despite assurances from the previous government. The community, which has long struggled with crime and insecurity, now feels abandoned as they continue to wait for action on a pledge that once brought them hope.
Speaking with the Lesotho News Agency (LENA) on Friday, Raleqheka community councillor Mrs. Matumahole Kelepa shared the deep sense of betrayal felt by residents. She recalled the excitement that swept through the villages when plans for the police station were initially announced, as it symbolized a commitment to improving security and addressing criminal activities in the area.
However, Mrs. Kelepa noted that as time passed without any sign of construction, the community’s optimism turned into disappointment. The lack of progress has left residents feeling neglected, especially as crime remains a persistent threat.
Community members are now calling on the government to honor its commitment and take decisive action. They stress that establishing a police station in Ha-Raleqheka is not just a matter of infrastructure but a necessity for ensuring safety and restoring trust between citizens and authorities.
As uncertainty lingers, residents hope that their concerns will be heard and that steps will finally be taken to fulfill the long-overdue promise.
