Lesotho Civil Servants Show Love for Their Country Through Nationwide Cleaning Campaign

Civil servants across Lesotho demonstrated their deep love and commitment to their country by participating in a large-scale cleaning initiative on Friday. The campaign, known as Hloekisa Lesotho, took place in various towns and urban centers, with government officers, local police, and community members working together to clean public spaces.

This month’s edition of Hloekisa Lesotho coincided with Valentine’s Day, a time traditionally associated with expressing love and admiration. While the day is often celebrated with gifts and romantic gestures, civil servants chose to extend their love towards the nation by ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment. Their efforts were mirrored by many learners who embraced the Valentine’s spirit by dressing in red and white, symbolizing love and unity.

One of the areas that received a significant transformation was the stretch from Ha Masilo, Motimposo to Moreneng, where volunteers cleared litter and enhanced the general cleanliness of the surroundings. The Community Councillor for Motimposo, Mr. Teboho Moholo, applauded the dedication of civil servants and other volunteers, including officers from the Ministry of Information, for their commitment to keeping the city clean.

“This initiative is a true reflection of patriotism. The participation of different government ministries, local police, and villagers shows that we all have a shared responsibility in keeping our country clean. I am proud of the work done here today,” Mr. Moholo remarked.

The Hloekisa Lesotho campaign continues to be a crucial movement in promoting cleanliness and environmental consciousness across the nation. By tying this month’s cleanup with Valentine’s Day, civil servants have set a powerful example that love for one’s country can be demonstrated in many meaningful ways, including through acts of service and responsibility.

With such dedicated efforts, Lesotho moves one step closer to becoming a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable nation.
