District Administrator Emphasizes Role in Governance and ICT Advancement

The District Administrator has reaffirmed the critical role of his office in overseeing management, governance, and service delivery at the district level. He emphasized that ensuring resources are effectively utilized and the needs of communities are met requires close coordination between various government ministries and stakeholders.

He made these remarks during a one-day training on the Basic Education Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Policy and the dissemination of the Learning Passport Online App, held at the district on Thursday. The administrator highlighted his responsibility in overseeing the implementation of government policies, ensuring that programs reach intended beneficiaries.

Expressing his appreciation for the Ministry of Education and Training’s commitment to advancing ICT in the district, he noted that technology is now an essential tool in modern education and governance. “Unlike in the past when most work was done manually, ICT is now a necessity in delivering services efficiently,” he said.

At the same event, the Ministry’s Inspector for Computer Studies in the Department of Planning urged stakeholders to support efforts in expanding ICT access. He pointed out that the COVID-19 pandemic proved the effectiveness of online learning and remote working, making digital tools indispensable in the education sector.

“In the near future, traditional teaching methods will evolve, and no teacher will be in front of children physically conducting lessons. From Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) to secondary education, technology will play a central role in delivering lessons,” he stated.

The training on ICT policy and the Learning Passport Online App aims to equip educators and policymakers with digital skills, ensuring that students at all levels benefit from modern learning approaches. With the government’s strong commitment to digital transformation, districts are expected to experience significant improvements in education and service delivery.
