DIFA Berea Launches Referees Training Course to Promote Transparency in Soccer

In an effort to enhance transparency and fairness in soccer games, the District Football Association (DIFA) Berea has officially launched a three-day training course for referees. The training, which commenced on Wednesday at the Thakaneng Youth Resource Centre, is set to conclude on Friday.

The DIFA Berea referees’ basic training course targets young participants between the ages of 15 and 25, with a total of 30 attendees. Among them, 24 are male, while six are female. The training is being facilitated by expert referees’ trainers from the Lesotho Football Association (LEFA), ensuring that the participants receive high-quality instruction aligned with national and international officiating standards.

By equipping young referees with the necessary skills and knowledge, DIFA Berea aims to improve the standard of officiating in local soccer games, fostering integrity and professionalism in the sport. The course covers essential aspects such as the rules of the game, decision-making, match control, and practical field training.

This initiative is a crucial step in developing competent referees who will contribute to fair play in football matches at both the district and national levels. It also highlights the commitment of DIFA Berea and LEFA to promoting inclusivity in the sport, as seen in the participation of young female referees.

As the training progresses, it is expected to not only refine the skills of aspiring referees but also inspire more young people to take an interest in officiating, ultimately strengthening the overall football ecosystem in Lesotho.
