Construction of Toilets at Poso Primary School in Mokhotlong Progressing Well
The construction of toilets at Poso Primary School in the Bafali area of Mokhotlong is progressing well, according to the District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO), Mr. Sekake Thamae. Speaking on the ongoing project, Mr. Thamae explained that the initiative is being closely monitored by the Disaster Management Authority (DMA), World Vision Lesotho, and the Department of Rural Water Supply in the district.
Currently, four toilets for students and one for teachers are being constructed at the school. This project is part of a larger effort to improve sanitary facilities at schools in remote areas, ensuring a healthier and more conducive learning environment.
Mr. Thamae further explained that the construction follows a resource mobilization campaign that was carried out after Poso Primary School was identified as particularly vulnerable due to the lack of toilet facilities for both students and staff. The absence of such essential amenities had been a concern for the school community, and this project aims to address that gap.
The collaboration between local and international partners, such as the DMA, World Vision Lesotho, and the Department of Rural Water Supply, highlights the importance of community and government efforts in improving education infrastructure in rural regions.
Once completed, the new toilets will significantly improve the hygiene and comfort of both the learners and the teachers at Poso Primary School, contributing to a more positive and productive educational environment.
