Thuathe MP Vuyiswa Tsheka Highlights Progress in Water Supply and Sanitation Projects
Thuathe constituency is steadily making progress in ensuring the availability of clean water and sanitation for all, according to the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Ms. Vuyiswa Tsheka. In an interview with the Agency, Ms. Tsheka provided an update on several ongoing water infrastructure projects aimed at improving access to clean water in the region.
Ms. Tsheka confirmed that multiple water supply projects are currently underway in the constituency, some of which are nearing completion while others are in the planning or early implementation stages. These projects reflect a significant commitment to addressing the water and sanitation challenges in the area.
“While there are still some villages facing drinking water challenges, a large portion of our constituency now has access to clean water. We are making steady strides toward ensuring that every resident can benefit from safe and reliable water sources,” Ms. Tsheka stated.
She highlighted the importance of these water infrastructure developments in contributing to the achievement of the United Nations’ Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 6, which aims to ensure “clean water and sanitation for all.” With water supply and sanitation being key components of the SDGs, Ms. Tsheka emphasized the ongoing efforts to meet these targets and improve the living standards of the people in Thuathe.
The Member of Parliament expressed optimism that, with the continued support and investment in water supply projects, the constituency will be able to meet its goal of universal access to clean water and sanitation in the near future. This effort is part of the broader national push to improve essential infrastructure and align with global development goals, helping to create a more sustainable and healthier environment for all.
