ROLL Project Volunteers to Receive Protective Clothing for Land Rehabilitation Efforts
More than 200 volunteers engaged in land rehabilitation activities at the Letša-La-Letsie Regeneration of Landscape and Livelihoods (ROLL) Project catchment area are set to receive protective clothing next week. The event will take place at Ha-Lazaro on Tuesday.
The volunteers, who are part of various public groups within the project catchment, have been working tirelessly on brush control activities to restore the overgrazed area surrounding Letša-La-Letsie. As a token of support and recognition, the project will present them with freezer jackets to protect them from the harsh weather conditions they face during their efforts.
ROLL Quthing Project Field Officer, Ms. Moselantja Rahlao, emphasized the dedication of the community members involved. “The community from villages within the project catchment has voluntarily taken steps to address their pressing need to restore the grazing area and wetlands of Letša-La-Letsie. Despite the cold weather conditions, their commitment is yielding results, and the project will support them with freezer jackets to ease their work,” she said.
Letša-La-Letsie, an important ecological site in Lesotho, has faced challenges due to overgrazing. The ROLL Project aims to address these issues by promoting sustainable land management practices and improving livelihoods in the region. The provision of protective clothing underscores the project’s commitment to supporting local communities in their environmental conservation efforts.
This gesture not only acknowledges the volunteers’ hard work but also ensures their safety and comfort as they continue their vital contributions to the restoration of Letša-La-Letsie.
