Minister Selibe Mochoboroane Addresses Lack of Coordination Among Government Ministries

The lack of coordination among government ministries in Lesotho has long been a significant barrier to effective service delivery, policy implementation, and achieving development goals. Minister of Health, Mr. Selibe Mochoboroane, acknowledged this challenge during an interview, emphasizing the need for better coordination across ministries to ensure more efficient and effective governance.

Fragmented Policy Implementation

Mr. Mochoboroane highlighted that one of the primary factors contributing to the lack of coordination is fragmented policy implementation. This disjointed approach often results in the duplication of efforts, leading to wasted resources, and sometimes, conflicting strategies across various sectors. These inefficiencies hinder the government’s ability to achieve its development objectives and improve public services.

Minister’s Commitment to Accountability

The Minister expressed his commitment to being held accountable for the coordination of his ministry and ensuring that it works seamlessly with other government departments. He recognized that cross-ministry collaboration is essential in driving national initiatives and policies forward and that this cooperation must be streamlined for optimal results.

“I am willing to be held accountable for ensuring that my ministry is well coordinated with other ministries, and I am committed to addressing the challenges that have historically undermined our service delivery,” said Mr. Mochoboroane.

Call for Collaborative Solutions

In his remarks, the Minister also called for collaborative efforts to address the systemic challenges facing government operations. He emphasized that breaking down silos between ministries and fostering an environment of teamwork is crucial for realizing the government’s vision for the country’s development.

By focusing on more cohesive and synchronized approaches, Mr. Mochoboroane believes the government can better serve the needs of the Basotho people and achieve its long-term policy and development goals.

Looking Ahead

While the challenge of coordination remains, the Minister’s willingness to lead by example offers hope for a more unified approach in the future. As Lesotho continues to face pressing socio-economic issues, the government must prioritize effective collaboration to create lasting solutions that benefit all citizens.
