Lesotho’s Ministry of Health Hosts Strategic Meeting to Align HIV/AIDS Donor Projects

On Wednesday, Lesotho’s Ministry of Health, with support from its development partners, convened a crucial meeting to harmonize the efforts of two major health donor projects with the ministry’s ongoing programs aimed at eradicating HIV/AIDS.

The two projects, Sustaining Epidemic Control through Unified Prevention (SECURE) and the Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) Project Workplans, are funded by UNAID and the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) Compact II, with budgets of USD 75 million and USD 34 million, respectively.

In his address, Minister of Health Mr. Selibe Mochoboroane highlighted the significance of the meeting in ensuring coordinated efforts to avoid duplication and enhance the effective implementation of these projects. He emphasized that streamlined donor collaboration and accountability are key to improving healthcare delivery in the country.

“It is imperative for the Ministry of Health to foster proper donor coordination and accountability to ensure that the nation has access to improved health services,” said Minister Mochoboroane.

The alignment of these projects is expected to bolster Lesotho’s fight against HIV/AIDS while strengthening its overall health system. By integrating these efforts with the ministry’s existing initiatives, the government aims to maximize impact and efficiently utilize resources for the benefit of the population.

This meeting underscores Lesotho’s commitment to achieving its health objectives and delivering better healthcare outcomes for its citizens.
