ECCD Teachers Complete Weeklong Training on New Curriculum in Berea

A group of at least 40 Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) teachers from center-based schools in Berea has successfully completed a weeklong training on the new curriculum. The training, which concluded on Friday, was organized and conducted by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) as part of its efforts to enhance the quality of early childhood education across the district.

Ms. Blossom Ramakatane, the MOET District National Teacher Trainer, spoke about the ministry’s commitment to improving the standards of education for young learners. In an interview, she explained that the Education office has launched a campaign to ensure that all ECCD schools are legally registered and that teachers are equipped with the necessary skills to provide quality education to children.

“The training is part of a broader initiative to professionalize ECCD education. We want to make sure that teachers are well-prepared to implement the new curriculum effectively, which in turn will benefit the children in our schools,” said Ms. Ramakatane.

The training covered various aspects of the new curriculum, including teaching methods, child development, and how to create a conducive learning environment for young children. By enhancing the teachers’ knowledge and skills, the MOET aims to ensure that children in the early stages of their education receive a strong foundation that supports their overall growth and learning.

The successful completion of this training is a positive step towards the ministry’s goal of improving the quality of education in ECCD centers. With the support of well-trained teachers and an updated curriculum, the future of early childhood education in Berea looks promising, contributing to the overall development of young learners across the district.
