Minister of Law and Justice Urges DCEO Officials to Uphold Integrity Amid Corruption Rumors

The Minister of Law and Justice, Richard Ramoeletsi, has called on officials of the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO) and government ministers to steer clear of corruption. This comes amid allegations that some DCEO officials may be involved in unethical practices.

Delivering a speech on behalf of Prime Minister Samuel Matekane, who could not attend due to health reasons, Minister Ramoeletsi emphasized the government’s commitment to combating corruption and promoting good governance.

In the Prime Minister’s address, the coalition government reiterated its stance on accountability, transparency, and ethical conduct since taking office in 2022. The speech highlighted that the government has embraced principles of good governance, inclusivity, and rule of law as part of its efforts to eliminate corruption and nepotism while completing critical national reform programs.

“The government remains steadfast in its resolve to root out corruption at all levels,” the Prime Minister stated in the speech. “We call on all officials, especially those entrusted with anti-corruption duties, to maintain the highest ethical standards and ensure that justice prevails.”

Minister Ramoeletsi’s remarks come at a time when the government is under pressure to demonstrate its commitment to eradicating corruption. The plea for integrity and accountability within the DCEO and other government institutions signals the administration’s dedication to addressing corruption and fostering a culture of transparency and responsibility.

The government’s ongoing reforms aim to rebuild public trust, enhance efficiency, and create an environment where corruption has no place. Minister Ramoeletsi urged all stakeholders to support these efforts and work collectively towards achieving a fair and just society.
