Lesotho Blood Transfusion Services Urges Berea Community to Keep Donating Blood During Festive Season
As the festive season heats up, the Lesotho Blood Transfusion Services (LBTS) is calling on the Berea community to continue donating blood to help save lives. This appeal came during the ongoing SHE-HIVE campaign for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, held at Teyateyaneng’s Taoana Square on Friday.
In an interview with the Agency, LBTS Phlebotomist Mr. Molefi Molefi emphasized that although December often brings celebrations and holidays, the demand for blood remains critical. The blood bank is constantly in need of donations, as blood is an essential, life-saving resource, particularly in emergency situations.
Mr. Molefi highlighted that by joining the SHE-HIVE initiative, the LBTS aims to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation. The campaign encourages people to donate blood regularly and voluntarily, underscoring the potential for donated blood to one day save the lives of those who give it.
“We want to ensure that our blood reserves are always ready for emergencies. Donating blood is not only a noble act but one that can have a direct, life-saving impact,” said Mr. Molefi.
The SHE-HIVE campaign, in its commitment to raising awareness around gender-based violence, also advocates for social responsibility, and blood donation stands as a key gesture of care and community support. With continued efforts from both LBTS and the public, it is hoped that more people will be inspired to donate, ensuring that enough blood is available to save lives, especially during the festive season when accidents and health crises are more likely to occur.
The importance of blood donation is clear: it saves lives, and by contributing to the cause, the Berea community can help ensure that medical emergencies, especially those arising from violence and accidents, are met with immediate care and response.
