DIFA Berea Urges Teams to Follow Rules During Festive Season Tournaments
As festive season soccer tournaments continue to take place across various regions, the Berea District Football Association (DIFA) has called on participating teams to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of their respective tournaments.
In an interview with the Agency on Friday, DIFA Berea President, Mr. Lekhooa Thabaneng, expressed concern about the rising conflicts and misunderstandings that often arise during these tournaments. He highlighted that many of these issues are fueled by excessive alcohol and drug use, which not only jeopardize the safety of players but also endanger the lives of supporters.
Mr. Thabaneng acknowledged that numerous zones had informed the DIFA office about hosting festive season tournaments. However, he stressed that such events often become chaotic due to the negative influence of alcohol and drugs, leading to dangerous situations on and off the field.
He emphasized the importance of observing the established rules and regulations, which are crucial for promoting fair play and transparency in the games. Mr. Thabaneng further urged teams to focus on managing and controlling their crowds to ensure that their supporters do not cause disturbances that could result in penalties.
By adhering to the guidelines and fostering a spirit of respect and discipline, Mr. Thabaneng believes the tournaments will not only be safer but also provide an opportunity for players to showcase their talents in a fair and supportive environment.
