Senate Enters Short Adjournment for Chiefs’ Retreat
The Senate has entered a short adjournment from Thursday, November 7, to November 19, to facilitate the College of Chiefs’ participation in a retreat. The retreat, aimed at addressing issues affecting Chiefs and their governance roles, will offer them a dedicated space to deliberate on matters crucial to their function in society.
The motion for adjournment was presented by the Minister of Education and Training, Professor Ntoi Rapapa, who emphasized the significance of the retreat. According to Professor Rapapa, this initiative will provide the Chiefs with an opportunity to focus on matters that directly impact their leadership and governance roles.
During the retreat, discussions will centre around how Chiefs can improve their service to communities and enhance their contributions to governance structures. The retreat is designed to offer a platform for Chiefs to reflect on their responsibilities, share insights, and develop strategies for addressing the challenges they face in their leadership roles.
The adjournment ensures that the Senate’s usual proceedings will be temporarily paused to allow the Chiefs to engage in this important dialogue, highlighting the government’s commitment to strengthening the role of traditional leadership in modern governance.
