Likuena Sets Sights on Revenge as They Head to Bloemfontein for Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier Against Central African Republic

The Lesotho Senior National team, Likuena, has embarked on their journey to Bloemfontein where they will face the Central African Republic (CAR) in a crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier. The match, set to take place on Thursday, marks a pivotal moment in Likuena’s campaign for the 2025 AFCON.

According to Mikia Kalati, the Communications and Media Manager of the Lesotho Football Association (LEFA), the team gathered for a residential camp at Bambatha Ts’ita Sports Arena on Monday to prepare for the highly anticipated clash. The camp will allow the players to focus their energy on tactics, fitness, and strategy ahead of the critical encounter.

The match, which will be played behind closed doors at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, is expected to be a fierce battle. The Likuena squad, under the guidance of coach Leslie Nots’i, will be looking to exact revenge on the Central African Republic after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Los Fauves in their first leg encounter back in September.

“We are focused and determined to make a strong comeback,” Nots’i remarked, as his side aims to rectify the result from the previous match. “This is a crucial match, and we know the importance of getting a positive result for our qualification hopes.”

Likuena’s preparation for the match has been intensive, with the team working hard to sharpen their skills and iron out any weaknesses. The players and coaching staff are optimistic about their chances as they head into the encounter with a renewed sense of purpose and motivation.

The match against CAR is a crucial step in Lesotho’s pursuit of a place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and fans are hopeful that Likuena will rise to the occasion and deliver a performance worthy of their ambitions. The team’s determination to make amends for their first-leg defeat promises an exciting clash in Bloemfontein.
