Principal Chief of Ha Majara Extends Warm Birthday Wishes to King Letsie III Ahead of National Celebrations

The Principal Chief of Ha Majara, Chieftainess ‘Mamolapo Majara, has sent heartfelt birthday wishes to His Majesty King Letsie III as he prepares to celebrate his 62nd birthday. Speaking to the press on Monday, Chieftainess Majara expressed excitement as her community—the ‘Maroala’ in Berea—readies itself to host the upcoming national event.
Chieftainess Majara confirmed that the Maroala, Mats’ekha, and Lioli communities are fully prepared to welcome Basotho from across the country for the grand celebrations. She emphasized the unifying nature of the occasion, calling on all Basotho to set aside differences, embrace peace, and rebuild bonds of love in the spirit of the King’s birthday.
“The district celebration will take place this Wednesday at Bela-Bela playground, under the leadership of Principal Chief Peete Lesaoana Peete. Various cultural and recreational activities will be showcased during the event, leading up to the national ceremony at Pitso House,” she explained.
All festivities will be conducted under the guiding theme, ‘Peace to all Basotho,’ reinforcing the call for unity and harmony as the nation comes together in joyous celebration.
Chieftainess Majara also reflected on the significance of the occasion, noting that this year’s ceremony follows the historic Bicentennial, marking 200 years of Basotho existence—a milestone celebrated earlier this year.
She added that it has been 14 years since the last time Maroala, Lioli, and Mats’ekha hosted the King’s birthday, which was in 2011. The upcoming celebration on 17 July 2025 is therefore a momentous occasion, with the next event in this district anticipated to occur nine years from now.
The message from Chieftainess ‘Mamolapo Majara resonates deeply with the nation’s spirit, highlighting the King’s birthday not only as a time for festivity but also for peace, unity, and collective progress among all Basotho.
