Monjo Construction Faces Ultimatum from Maseru City Council Over Road Rehabilitation
Maseru City Council (MCC) has issued an ultimatum to Monjo Construction, demanding the completion of the rehabilitation of the Tsosane to SOS road by next week. This announcement comes as frustration mounts over ongoing delays in the project, which has already seen its contract extended from August to December due to setbacks.
Makatleho Mosala, the Senior Communications Officer at MCC, confirmed that Monjo Construction is expected to finalize the filling of potholes along the road by the stipulated deadline. The initial contract for the rehabilitation project began in January 2024, with an original completion date set for August. However, the project has surpassed its expected duration, prompting the council to take decisive action.
Mosala emphasized that if Monjo Construction fails to meet the new deadline, the MCC will be forced to terminate the contract. This stern warning underscores the council’s commitment to ensuring that vital infrastructure projects are completed in a timely manner to benefit the community.
The Tsosane to SOS road is a crucial route for residents and businesses in the area, making its rehabilitation essential for improving road safety and accessibility. The continued delays in the project have raised concerns among local residents, who rely on the road for daily commutes and transportation.
As the deadline approaches, all eyes will be on Monjo Construction to see if they can fulfill their obligations and restore the road to a safe and navigable condition. The outcome of this situation will not only impact the company’s reputation but also reflect the MCC’s ability to effectively manage public contracts and ensure timely delivery of essential services to the community.
