District Child Protection Team to Celebrate Girl Child Day in Leribe
In a heartfelt initiative to commemorate Girl Child Day, the District Child Protection Team (DCPT) Leribe is set to host a celebration at Senyookotho Primary and High School in Matlakeng on Thursday this week. A similar event will occur simultaneously at Pitseng Likileng in the Leribe district, emphasizing the importance of empowering young girls in the community.
The theme for this year’s commemoration is “Girls Vision for the Future.” This theme highlights the aspirations and potential of young girls, encouraging them to envision and work towards a bright future.
Mr. Morema Phits’ane, Secretary of the DCPT, explained that the decision to hold the celebrations in Matlakeng and Pitseng was influenced by the existing support from World Vision Lesotho. He noted that the organization has already established substantial programs in these areas, focusing on the empowerment and protection of children, particularly girls.
The events are expected to feature various activities designed to engage and inspire the young attendees, providing them with a platform to express their dreams and aspirations. The celebrations aim to foster a sense of community and solidarity among girls, reinforcing their rights and encouraging them to pursue their goals without limitations.
As the DCPT Leribe prepares for this important occasion, the focus remains on creating a supportive environment where young girls can thrive and envision a future filled with possibilities. The celebration is a vital step towards recognizing and addressing the challenges faced by girls in the community, ensuring that their voices are heard and valued.
