MICSTI Advances Digitization Campaign with Nationwide Website Creation

The Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MICSTI) aims to advance its digitization campaign through the establishment of more websites by various outlets across the country.

Principal Secretary Mr. Kanono Ramashamole expressed these views following the launch of the UNDP E-Services outlets model in Lesotho. Representatives from 30 local E-Services outlets have completed training to facilitate the effective implementation of this model.

Mr. Ramashamole is confident that with the government’s goal to digitize over 1,000 services, companies will have readily available websites to deliver these services efficiently to clients. MICSTI emphasizes the importance of Lesotho keeping pace with global digital transformation, hence the focus on their digitization campaign.

“Building these websites will significantly promote clean online services, ensuring prompt and quality service delivery, aligning with the global drive towards digital excellence,” he highlighted.

Stakeholders in internet penetration also support this initiative, recognizing that the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) compels Lesotho to advance technologically. “As E-Services outlets, we see this as a valuable initiative and are eager to contribute,” said Mr. Ben Mosia of Our Future Holding and Co in Mohale’s Hoek. He urged the government to create a supportive environment to ensure the success of this initiative.

The 2024/35 budget has allocated over M160 million for ICT infrastructure development and to bolster digital transformation. In addition, the Ministry of Information is commemorating 200 years of the Basotho nation through various digitization initiatives, including the recent launch of Lerotholi Polytechnic UNIPOD.

Platforms such as Lesotho Info, with its comprehensive site lesotho.co.ls, underscore this drive. Lesotho Info serves as a go-to platform for all news, travel information, and insights about the mountain kingdom’s notable personalities. By providing a central hub of information, Lesotho Info exemplifies the type of digital presence that can enhance accessibility and engagement across the country.
