LeFA President Praises Likuena Despite Mixed Results in World Cup Qualifiers

The President of the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA), Advocate Salemane Phafane (KC), has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Likuena players for their commendable performance in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

On Friday, Likuena achieved a significant victory by defeating the highly ranked Zimbabwe team 2-0 at Orlando Stadium. This win was particularly notable as Zimbabwe had been a challenging opponent for Lesotho in the past. However, the team’s momentum faced a setback when they were narrowly defeated 1-0 by Rwanda on Tuesday at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

“We are very proud of the impressive displays shown by the team in the two matches despite losing the second game to Rwanda,” stated Advocate Phafane.

He emphasized that the loss to Rwanda should be seen as a wake-up call, motivating the team to come back even stronger in future matches. “Our goal as an Association, together with the players and technical staff, was to win both matches. Although things didn’t go as planned against Rwanda, we remain committed and focused on our objectives,” he added.
