LLWDP III OFFICIALS, MINISTER NATURAL RESOURCES VISITS LERIBE, BOTHA-BOTHE MP’S
The Lesotho Lowlands Water Development Project Phase III management team together with the Minister of Natural Resources Mr Mohlomi Moleko visited the Members of Parliament from Leribe and Butha Buthe respectively.
Speaking at the meeting held in Botha Bothe, theActing Principal Secretary Mr Lisema lekhooana said the purpose of the visit was to introduce LLWDP III management to MP’S so as they establish relations for improved service delivery.
The Project Manger Mrs Mamathe Makhaola said implementation of LLWDP III include construction of water intake structure, water treatment works and bulk water pipelines to supply villages and public institutions with clean water, adding that they will also construct toilets for vulnerable residents.
The Minister urged Members of Parliament to support the project because it aims to enhance the lives of people living in two districts and for the sustainability of the project.
He said the purpose of the project is to improve the health and living conditions of about 118,000 people by constructing new water delivery and treatment infrastructure, as well as additional house connections and water points.
Speaking on behalf of the MP’s, Mr. Khotso Motseki appreciated the visit by both project management and the Minister saying they promise their full support to the project. The Lesotho Lowlands Water Development Project was designed and is being implemented by the Lesotho Lowlands Water Supply Scheme as it is its own brainchild.
The project will construct bulk water infrastructure (intake structure, pump stations, raw water main and water treatment plant, service reservoirs, transmission lines and booster pumps) in the prioritized areas, accompanied by improvements to the distribution systems and implementation of low-scale sanitation and hygiene measures to improve service delivery.
