Beata Matasane
Our third 2022 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders under the Leadership in Public management track is Beata Matasane Emily.
Beata is a professional sign language interpreter who has worked at the National University of Lesotho as a sign language interpreter and an assistant part- time lecture. She holds an Honors degree in South African Sign Language and Interpreting from the University of Free State in South Africa, an Honors degree in Educational Management Leadership and Policy studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Education both from the National University of Lesotho.
Beata’s interest is in ensuring that people with a hearing impairment are afforded similar educational opportunities as everyone else. She has volunteered her sign language interpreter services to many churches, schools, and organisations, including Lesotho Television. Beata will be placed at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities for her fellowship in the Leadership in Public Management track
