NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF LESOTHO DEVELOPS SANITIZERS
In the midst of the COVID-19 and the shortage of hand sanitisers in the country, the National University of Lesotho’s researchers (Staff and students from the faculties of Science and Technology as well as Health Sciences) are developing hand sanitizers for use by the NUL Community.
This is one innovation the university and the whole country should be proud of and it calls for adequate funding.
The Corona Virus outbreak has caused a massive depletion of sanitisers and protective clothing in the shops and health facilities. Basotho are therefore on a frequently fruitless search for hand sanitizer.
It is at this juncture that NUL researchers decided to put their skills to the test by developing the hand sanitizers from the Chemistry and Pharmacy laboratories as a protective measure.
At the later stage and funds permitting, the university will be able to produce and sell to the whole nation at very low costs.
