The Chinese Embassy on Thursday night hosted an awards ceremony for the “Chinese Modernization in My Eyes” contest, alongside a reception for Basotho students and trainees heading to China.
Fifteen students and trainees from various sectors were recognized, along with the contest’s overall winner, Ms. Palesa Maharasoa, a reporter from the Lesotho News Agency (LENA). Participants, many of them journalists from local media houses, received prizes including tablets, smart projectors, smartphones, and drones.
Ambassador Yang Xiaokun congratulated all participants and expressed appreciation for their contributions. He said he reviewed their works and agreed with their perspectives on Chinese modernization. Highlights included AI algorithms and 5G networks described by Mr. Molefi from his personal experience in China, e-commerce that supports people with disabilities as shared by Ms. Thaabe, and advanced CT and ICU facilities that save lives as noted by Dr. Tumisang.
The event celebrated innovation, knowledge exchange, and the growing cooperation between China and Lesotho through education, technology, and cultural understanding.
