King Letsie III Champions Global Food Security at FAO Global Exhibitions in Rome

On October 10, 2025, His Majesty King Letsie III of Lesotho joined global leaders at the opening ceremony of the FAO Global Exhibitions in Rome, Italy. The event was presided over by the King and the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Dr Qu Dongyu, alongside other distinguished guests.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone in global efforts to end hunger and strengthen sustainable food systems. As FAO Special Ambassador for Nutrition, King Letsie III used his platform to underscore the urgent need for coordinated global action to tackle food insecurity.
During his keynote address, the King reaffirmed Lesotho’s dedication to improving nutrition and sustainable agriculture. He stressed that achieving food security requires not only innovation but also shared responsibility among nations. “No country can achieve lasting food security in isolation. Collaboration is key to ensuring that every person has access to safe and nutritious food,” he said.
Following the formal proceedings, His Majesty and Dr Qu Dongyu toured the exhibition area, where they viewed a diverse range of agricultural products, technologies, and innovations from around the world. The displays showcased how science, policy, and community-led solutions can drive progress in the agriculture sector.
The FAO Global Exhibitions serve as a global platform for countries to exchange ideas, showcase innovation, and build partnerships that support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly the goal of ending hunger by 2030.
King Letsie III’s participation highlighted Lesotho’s growing leadership role in global nutrition advocacy. His continued work with FAO reflects the country’s commitment to advancing policies that integrate nutrition, environmental sustainability, and agricultural development.
Through events like the FAO Global Exhibitions, world leaders aim to inspire practical solutions and mobilize resources to create a world free from hunger. His Majesty’s message in Rome reaffirmed that progress is possible when nations act together with purpose and resolve.
