Prime Minister Launches Sebopi UniPOD, Emphasizes Innovation as a Necessity

Just two days after presenting a budget that prioritizes digital transformation, Prime Minister Ntsokoane Matekane officially launched Sebopi, also known as ‘Sesiu sa Libopi’ UniPOD, at Lerotholi Polytechnic (LP) on Friday.
Before delivering his speech, the Prime Minister requested a moment of silence in honor of Bokang Grace Matlosa, a Youth Connect and SEBABATSO leader from Masowe III, who is set to be laid to rest on Saturday.
In his address, PM Matekane emphasized the significance of the UniPOD, stating that it will serve as a platform to unlock the potential of young minds while contributing to economic growth and national development. He highlighted that this initiative is not just an opportunity but a necessity in today’s rapidly evolving world.
The Prime Minister further noted that the UniPOD aligns with the extension of the National Strategic Development Plan II (NSDP II) review, reinforcing the government’s commitment to fostering innovation, research, and entrepreneurship.
According to him, young innovators, including members of SEBABATSO, will have access to the UniPOD, enabling them to develop their business ideas, conduct research, and create prototypes.
The launch of Sebopi UniPOD marks a significant step in Lesotho’s journey toward technological advancement and youth empowerment, ensuring that innovation becomes a driving force for national progress.
